celebrities & infertility

Ok, this is something that really pisses me off on SO many levels.

First of all, there are the celebrities who have IVF with donor eggs and never tell, so they make it appear that they are getting pregnant late in life and magically all by themselves. Fess up! You are misleading the infertile public! Young girls are gonna think "great! I can have kids whenever I want as late in life as I want." This is not a good message. This is not the truth.

Next, there are celebrities and their money. This is also misleading, making it seem like anyone can afford infertility treatment. Not so.

Why aren't more celebrities stepping up for infertility? Why hasn't someone gone all Lance Armstrong for infertility?

Oh yeah, just don't get me started on this because it just really pisses me off.

Oh and there is finally going to be a PSA about infertility, RESOLVE is working with Giuliana and Bill Rancic on it. But it's only going to be online! Why not on TV, on the radio, in newspapers and magazines? Why are we hiding it online?

And yes, I was interviewed to go on the episode of The View that they were on. I was told I'd get a call on Monday and they'd be sending me my plane tickets. The call never came. I finally called them back and they'd "decided to go a different direction." I was so disappointed. But then when I saw the episode I was even more disappointed. They made light of infertility. One guest only talked about her and her husband getting a divorce and fighting over the unused embryos. I'm sure that only effects a very small portion of the infertility community. And when Giuliana said she couldn't gain wait because she was on TV? WHAT? SERIOUSLY? How do you plan to get pregnant without gaining weight?

O M G

Can you tell, they've hit a nerve . . .
